Narangba Valley State School staff work hard to provide learning experiences that ensure that every day, in every classroom, every student is achieving. Teachers use the following curriculum documents to deliver a high level of classroom teaching and to strive for continual improvement in all students.
Science Maths Academy (Years 4-6)
Students from the Narangba Valley State School will have a unique opportunity to qualify for entry into a program specifically tailored to provide science and math experiences to enhance their learning and opportunities for their future.
Each fortnight students will visit Narangba Valley State High School campus for a day, and participate in the program. They will do maths and science for a half day each. Parents will be responsible for drop off and pick up.
A stringent selection process is in place to determine selection and invitation to the program. A waiting list will be maintained. An application through Narangba Valley State High School is required.
An out of catchment applicant process to enrol at Narangba Valley State School will include a screening process and may include the following
NAPLAN (Reading comprehension and numeracy bands 5/6 Year 3, bands 7/8 Year 5)
Report cards ('As' for Mathematics and Science)
ACER (Acer General Ability Test - AGAT) to identify final group to be part of the academy
Appropriate attitude, independent learning capability and behaviour reports.
