Code of behaviour

At Narangba Valley State School, our Code of behaviour (PDF, 1.8 MB) promotes a philosophy that celebrates and rewards students who regularly achieve school expectations. We believe by clearly stating school expectations students are able to take responsibility for their actions and make appropriate behavioural choices that is conducive to a productive learning environment.

The policy focuses on celebrating behavioural achievements of those students who have been able to model our communities agreed values and beliefs, through the fulfilment of our school’s expectations. This celebration will be a planned day at the end of each term where students will engage in an end of term reward activity of a non-curricula nature.

The Code of behaviour is also available to view at the schools Corporate and Student Service building.

A variety of school documents are available for you to peruse.

School absenteeism and student attendance

School absenteeism and student attendance is a complex issue which includes a range of student behaviours including school refusal and truancy. Parents, caregivers and schools can access strategies to improve student attendance through the Every Day Counts resources.

Every Day Counts is a state wide initiative that aims to assist in improving student attendance at school through a shared commitment by students, parents, caregivers, schools and the community to improve students' attendance at school.

To do this, Every day counts promotes four key messages:

  • all children should be enrolled at school and attend on every school day

  • schools should monitor, communicate and implement strategies to improve regular school attendance

  • truanting can place a student in unsafe situations and impact on their future employability and life choices

  • attendance at school is the responsibility of everyone in the community.
